Xerox, distributed to 24 sub-Saharan countries by Bytes Document Solutions, says that it has launched its fastest desktop multifunction device to date, targeting SMEs with a device claimed to be capable of 45 pages per minute (ppm) print speeds and simultaneous job processing for increased productivity.

The device is available from local Bytes Document Solutions distributors Rectron and Square One.

The black-and-white multifunction device (MFD) is available in flexible configurations, from a basic copy-only version to an advanced version that is designed to print, copy, scan, e-mail and fax.

It is also designed to offer automatic two-sided printing on all configurations, which is said to make it less costly than competitive products that offer this feature. Scanning can be done in colour, the company adds.

"SMEs continue to be one of the fastest growing segments in the market today," says Keith Kmetz, programme director for IDC's Hardcopy Peripherals Solutions and Services division. "The Xerox WorkCentre 4150 is designed and sold first as a printer, but it also offers copying, scanning and faxing to help people work better."

The WorkCentre 4150's multitasking abilities aim to enable users to print, copy, scan and fax simultaneously. It includes features such as Print Queue Management and Automatic Print Around, which are designed to allow users to move important jobs to the front of the queue and eliminate traffic jams, by immediately bypassing queued jobs that need special types or sizes of paper.
