AcerPower 2000 'blends style and performance'

Acer SA has announced the local availability of the AcerPower 2000, a desktop PC housed in a chassis that is said to be one tenth the size of a typical tower desktop.

The AcerPower 2000 is designed to utilise the Intel Core 2 Duo processor that is claimed to provide up to 40% greater processing power and 40% less energy consumption than previous-generation CPUs, while also supporting Celeron, Pentium 4 and Pentium D processors.

The desktop is built on the Intel 946GZ Express chipset, featuring an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GMA 3000 for enhanced visuals, while the system boasts up to 2GB of DDR2 533/667MHz memory with dual-channel support, the company says.

"The AcerPower 2000 also offers up to 400GB storage on a SATA 3Gbps hard disk drive, which provides quick data access speeds and eliminates the performance bottlenecks commonly found in previous mini PCs," adds John Geypen, product manager at Acer SA.

The product features Acer Empowering Technology that is intended to assist users to optimise the performance of their system and to make the most of its functionality. Acer Empowering tools are designed to simplify tasks such as security, disaster recovery, common configuration tasks and noise management.

It is available at a recommended retail price of R5 995 including VAT.
