Under the terms of the perpetual licensing agreement, Business Connexion has the right to market and brand ResourceLink as a Business Connexion solution. Business Connexion will also take responsibility for localising the product to ensure that it meets legal and business requirements in SA and other parts of the continent.
UK-based Northgate Information Solutions is a FTSE-250 company with a turnover of £332,7m. The company's Northgate HR division has around 2 500 LME clients, including the likes of Sainsbury's, Boots and HM Customs & Excise, and over 5 000 SME clients. One in three salaries in the UK is paid using Northgate's software.
John Lagaay, group executive: business applications at Business Connexion, says: "Q Data DynamiQue made a strategic decision several years ago to replace its own HR application with a third party product and embarked on a search for the right offering.
"After extensive market research, Northgate's ResourceLink emerged as the product that best met our need for a Web-enabled HR suite that runs on a range of database and operating system platforms. ResourceLink addresses the needs of a wide cross-section of companies, from SMEs through to large corporates."
Says Malcolm Aldis, Northgate HR's MD: "Northgate HR has an aggressive strategy for international expansion, and has operations in South and North America, Asia, and Europe. We are pleased to add SA to that list.
ResourceLink is intended to answer the demand in Business Connexion's client base for a solution that covers the whole HR lifecycle, from recruitment to retirement, says Lagaay. Q Data DynamiQue says that it is developing methodologies and migration tools to ensure that its clients can transition smoothly to the ResourceLink solutions.
ResourceLink can be installed on Unix or Microsoft platforms using Oracle or SQL server databases, Aldis says. It is a modular system that can be installed as a standalone payroll, personnel or pensions system, and additional modules can be included at any time to form a fully integrated system, he adds.
