Running at 400MHz, the ASIC400 is designed to deliver a 25% performance boost over its predecessor. The A16F-G2430 utilises 4Gbps Fibre Channel (4GFC) technology for twice the throughput and higher reliability compared to 2GFC, the company says.
The A16U-G2430 Ultra320 SCSI to Sata-II system is claimed to be suitable for enterprise-class environments that require the dedicated performance, reliability and expansion options of direct-attach SCSI Raid.
In addition to incorporating Infortrend's fifth-generation ASIC, they are also said to be the vanguards of several other product line innovations. The arrays carry the 'Designed for Windows Server 2003' logo, aiming to guarantee seamless operation with Windows Server 2003 for more efficient, secure and productive RAid storage environments.
Both products come with firmware-based support for Raid-6, which is claimed to provide a high level of fault tolerance for mission-critical data. Raid-6 is designed to allow for two simultaneous drive failures without downtime or data loss.
The systems have also been qualified to use the market's largest capacity Sata drives, the 500GB and 750GB Barracuda ES hard drives from Seagate, the company says.
Said to be optimised for 24 x 7 reliability, the Barracuda ES drives aim to maximise scalability and are said to be ideal for low cost-per-GB storage for digital media files, or in data protection schemes, such as disk-to-disk and snapshot backup.
In addition, both systems are intended to meet fully the requirements of the 'Restriction of Hazardous Substances' (RoHS) legislation including lead-free solder for a clean and healthy environment.
The A16F-G2430 is said to feature two 4GFC host channels, support for sixteen Sata-II disk drives and 658/460MBps sequential read/write performance. The A16U-G2430 features two Ultra320 SCSI host channels, support for sixteen Sata-II disk drives and 566/484MBps sequential read/write performance, the company adds.
Both subsystems incorporate dual-redundant hot-swap power supplies, and are configurable for Raid levels 0, 1, 0+1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 30, 50 and 60, the company says.
