Hyperion, distributed locally by Intellient, has experienced an increase in customers buying its Hyperion System 9 Master Data Management solution, with recent sales being made to FirstRand Bank, HBOS, Symantec, Verizon and Xerox.

As an integral part of Hyperion System 9 Foundation Services, Hyperion MDM aims to enable increased visibility and collaboration between IT and business users in defining, implementing and managing change across systems. Using a point and sync thin client interface, the solution is designed to empower non-technical users to directly manage change of business performance management master data.

Hyperion MDM helps companies tackle the innumerable challenges and costs of operating in todays constantly changing and competitive global environment, says Marc Scheepbouwer, MD of Intellient. By synchronising data across all systems, Hyperion MDM not only provides users with a single version of the truth, but also dramatically reduces development cost and risk, and reduces the cost of implementing and maintaining business intelligence and data repository processes.

Through a formal, rule-driven process, Hyperion MDM is designed to synchronise business performance management master data, such as business dimensions, reporting structures, hierarchies, attributes and business rules across Hyperion System 9 applications and systems, including data warehouses, data marts, analytic applications and transactional systems.

The solution aims to provide robust master data lifecycle and versioning capabilities, in conjunction with a powerful business rules engine and audit capabilities for validating and verifying changes in master data, in real time and after the fact.

In SA, FirstRand leverages Hyperion MDM in its banking division to increase user productivity, lower security risk and protect the companys data integrity, Scheepbouwer says. Hyperion MDM serves as FirstRands central environment to manage master data and automate the changes made across the organisation, thereby speeding up essential processes and ensuring data integrity throughout its operations.
