Local networking and communications distributor, Comztek, has appointed Chris Davies as manager of its KwaZulu-Natal branch.

Davies, who was previously with Westcon, a division of the Datatec Group, believes that the IT market in KwaZulu-Natal offers a number of opportunities for the IT industry. Our primary aim is to help our local channel to identify new gaps in the market and develop the right solutions to meet the needs of their customers. Particular areas of growth include networking, security, storage and telecommunications.

Comztek represents a number of major hardware and software vendors, including Novell, Symantec, McAfee, Microsoft, Cisco and MGE, and, while there are specific areas in which we believe new growth can be attained, we intend to build our market share across the board."

Davies sees training as a major area for development. "New technologies are released almost on a daily basis, and it is often a daunting task for resellers to keep up with the latest trends. At the same time issues such as ever-changing security threats place a heavy burden on the channel's ability to service its customers effectively. By taking a proactive training approach to training our resellers we will better equip them with the skills necessary to deliver greater value to the end-user, as well as grow existing markets through innovation."
