SMC TigerAccess to hit local shores soon

SMC Networks SA has announced that the TigerAccess 24-port Extended Ethernet VDSL2 Solution, which supports VDSL2 technology, will be available locally in the fourth quarter of this year.

This product represents the first in the SMC Networks line of products that support VDSL2, the TigerAccess Extended Ethernet Switch (SMC7824M/VSW), the company says. 
 
The TigerAccess Extended Ethernet VDSL2 Switch is designed to provide the means to build faster, higher-capacity networks in multi-dwelling/multi-tenant units and environments like hotels, cruise ships, hospitals and universities,  and to do it all over existing phone lines. 
 
In addition, the VDSL2 capabilities built in to the SMC7824M/VSW aim to expand revenue-generating options with greater capacity for seamless delivery of voice, video and data.
 
The local market will soon be in a position to leverage off the speed and capacity to deliver high-demand services like voice and video effectively with no wiring changes, explains Paul Luff, country manager SMC Networks SA. SMC understands that our customers need ever-increasing capacity and scalability to remain competitive, and our VDSL2 products fill that need.
 
According to Luff, both installations and facilities that are already outfitted with VDSL technology can install TigerAccess SMC7824M/VSW switches to bring the benefits of higher-capacity connections 'up to 100Mbps' so that they can offer better overall performance in addition to offering streaming voice, video and data, still using existing telephone system wiring.  

Sites where wireless solutions have been deployed can also benefit from an upgrade to VDSL2 to overcome problems with dead spots and lack of overall ability to support the growing demand for streaming multimedia and VoIP, He adds. VDSL2, anchored by the TigerAccess Extended Ethernet Switch (SMC7824M/VSW), presents a good solution - the latest in VDSL technology, with support for up to 100Mbps of bandwidth, Luff concludes.
