SAP AG and IBM have announced a global agreement, aiming to offer midsize enterprises tighter, more seamless integration between mySAP All-in-One solutions and the upcoming version of DB2, code-named 'Viper'.

Local SMEs now have the option to select a reliable database that is bundled together and tightly integrated with mySAP All-in-One solutions from SAP and its partners, thus making the selection of DB2 Viper a seamless and easy choice, the companies say.

The announcement is claimed to deliver on the promise that SAP and IBM made to help SMEs to maximise the capabilities of their existing IT investments while integrating new technologies.

Dev Govender, IBM SA SAP executive, says the announcement is great news for local partners and SMEs. The growing SME market now has access to a database which is focused on its requirements and offers the same benefits as the full version of DB2, he says. With Vipers low maintenance, ease of use and simple configuration, we are confident it will soon become the preferred choice for SMEs.

DB2 Viper for mySAP All-in-One solutions is designed to help SMEs ease configuration, enhance performance and increase solution availability. DB2's functionality and low total cost of ownership, coupled with the expertise of SAP and its partners in meeting the requirements of SMEs, is claimed to provide customers with a worthwhile return on investment.
