In a first for the local market, Gartner has appointed two analysts in this country. They aim to provide local clients with additional depth and insight into the local market.

After a lengthy review process, Gartner Africa has appointed Johan Jacobs and Les Stevens to the positions. Both were previously senior consultants, who joined Gartner after the acquisition of Meta last year.

This is a significant milestone for Gartner Africa. We have a particularly strong local team of consultants, and the fact that Gartner International has recognised the intellectual capital in our team is testimony to our standing in the global IT arena, says Rene Jacobs, MD of Gartner Africa.

With more than 21 years of experience in the global IT industry, Jacobs specialises in sourcing and the applications environment, including ERP, CRM and BI.

Stevens focuses on IT risk management, business continuity, and all aspects of information security, including strategy, processes and architecture. He has been in the IT industry for 25 years, 15 of which have been in the risk, security audit and control field.

The appointments are expected to add significant clout to the Gartner for IT Leaders product suite, which aims to align a clients specific job-related challenges with the appropriate Gartner analysts and insight.
