Motorola has announced the signing of David Beckham as a global brand ambassador. The three-year collaboration will kick off with major activities across Asia, including advertising appearances and extensive retail promotions across the network of Motorola stores and distributors throughout the region.

The deal also includes the ability to embed exclusive Beckham content such as screen savers and video clips of the star in action in Motorola handsets.

Beckham will commence his brand ambassador role with immediate effect.

Beckham will also be supporting important Motorola initiatives, including the (MOTO)RED mobile phone created to help to eliminate AIDS in Africa. Beckham will signal his public support for this campaign, in addition to his ongoing UNICEF activities, to encourage his numerous fans to make a difference and help in the fight to combat the disease.

Jeremy Dale, vice-president of retail marketing at Motorola Mobile Devices, says: We are very excited about this collaboration for ourselves, our customers and our consumers. David Beckham is a global icon and we look forward to working with him across a range of projects. In particular, we are delighted that he will be using his immense popularity to help to promote (MOTO)RED."
