Pinnacle Micro has announced the local availability of Canon's Digital IXUS Wireless, a wirelessly enabled camera that aims to offer users photographic freedom throughout the home and office.

The Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b-enabled camera is designed to allow users to print directly to PictBridge compatible printers with the included Wireless Print Adapter. It also aims to enable users to upload images wirelessly to the PC as soon as they are taken with Auto Transfer features, and users can now control shooting functions from their PCs with wireless Remote Capture, Canon says.

El-Marie Kruger, Canon brand manager at Pinnacle Micro, says that this enhanced wireless functionality is due to the Slit and Frame design of the camera, which incorporates a wireless antenna, designed to make communication between the PC and the camera simpler.

A 5-megapixel CCD sensor allows for photo quality prints with sharp definition up to A3 in size, says Kruger, and an Ultra-High Refractive Index Aspherical (UA) 3x zoom lens helps deliver clear performance in a compact form.
