The local office of international security vendor, Panda Software, has recently launched an 'all-in-one security' appliance, designed to protect against all types of threats. The GateDefender Integra is claimed to complete the company's range of perimeter security solutions.

According to Jeremy Matthews, MD of Panda Software SA, the device protects networks using a multi-layered approach: firewall, VPN service, intrusion prevention, anti-malware, content filtering, anti-spam and Web filtering. "The different layers of protection work together to offer virtually full-proof security against both known and unknown network and content threats," he adds.

GateDefender Integra is designed to protect networked computers with a minimal impact on performance. It is intended to be installed as rapidly and simply as possible, and barely requires maintenance, leaving businesses to focus on their core activity, Matthews adds.

The device is installed at the gateway between the corporate network and the Internet or another network, just like a firewall, and is managed through a straightforward centralised Web administration console, he says.

It scans all inbound and outbound traffic as well as traffic between network zones without degrading the performance of the connection, and also automatically updates the virus signature file every 90 minutes, Matthews concludes.
