Lexmark International has introduced the Lexmark X642e monochrome laser multifunction product, which is said to copy at speeds up to 43 pages per minute. It includes legal-size, simplex scanning and fax capabilities as standard, the company says.

According to Lexmark, the X642e features a 5,7-inch monochrome e-Task interface, which can easily be customised to simplify complicated business processes at the touch of an icon. The touch screen offers similar capabilities to the larger, 8-inch colour touch screen featured on higher-end Lexmark laser MFPs but at a lower price, making advanced technology accessible to more users, the company adds.

The X642e also has the ability to scan to or print PDFs and images from a USB flash storage device, the company continues. It can be configured to meet each customers needs with a variety of input options and features such as an optional duplexer, Lexmark says.

For customers concerned with security, the Lexmark X642e comes standard with enterprise-level security features such as IPSec, SSL, SNMPv3 and 802.1x authentication, the company adds.

Says Hans Horn, MD of Lexmark International SA: Customers are increasingly looking for simple printing solutions to save them time and money, especially in SA where SMEs make up such a large proportion of the market. The Lexmark X642e combines big-business functionality and an affordable price into one manageable MFP solution.
