Knowledge Integration Dynamics (KID) has been appointed as a reseller for MigrationWare, which has the sole rights to distribute Trillium Software in SA.

In return, MigrationWare will resell Informatica, distributed by KID in this country.

Stan Watt, a director of KID, says: "There is a strong working relationship between the two companies in the UK and the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region as a whole, as their products complement each other."

Beth McKellar-Basset, MigrationWare marketing director, says MigrationWare chose KID because of its experience and focus on data warehousing and business intelligence (BI). "We are working with both its sales and technical consultants, and KID will also be called on to assist us with consulting on various projects," she adds.

In turn, MigrationWare will identify opportunities, and KID will provide the services required around products, such as data profiling and data quality.

MigrationWare is based in Cape Town, which will give KID an opportunity to gain access to the major insurance and oil companies operating in that city, Watt adds.

McKellar-Basset says: "Trillium takes unconnected data and forms one view of the truth for organisations - creating a beneficial relationship between Trillium and Informatica, a data cleansing, movement and integration tool.

"The Trillium Software Data Quality Connector for Informatica PowerCenter and PowerMart allows seamless integration between the products, and gives businesses an end-to-end data transformation process that incorporates accurate, unified views of business entities built from multiple data formats, sources and types.
"Data Quality Connector enables organisations to realise a full application lifecycle, from development to testing, deployment, and maintenance. Trillium is integrated with Informatica modules and resides on the same server as the Informatica data integration engine. Users can easily incorporate data quality processes into integration job streams using Informatica scheduling features," McKellar-Basset continues.

Says Watt: "Successful business analytics and intelligence applications must be fed by reliable underlying data. Only with complete, accurate and unified customer views can business intelligence solutions continuously meet the needs of a growing, diversifying user community.

"Trillium amplifies the benefits of Informatica integration and business analytics solutions. Trillium provides a foundation for business understanding, milling raw data into valuable information through data standardisation, enrichment and linking.
"With data quality issues having a serious impact on BI solutions, data quality is becoming a vital consideration for organisations - it is the next big wave. With this agreement in place, we can provide our clients with a solution to all their data profiling and data quality needs," Watt concludes.
