Sam's Soapbox: The mixed bag & nuts

I have come to the conclusion that SA is the monopoly capital of the world.

Now, I am not talking about the board game, mind you.

It all started in my vain attempts to get hold of somebody at Multichoices customer service. All four numbers that I have for the people to whom I need to speak just ring and ring. In my frustration, I was going to threaten the company with cancelling my M-Net subscription, due to lack of customer service, but it struck me: there is nobody else to go to.

While we hope that the SNO will give Telkom a run for its money (when it eventually gets going), there is no alternative to M-Net and DSTV for entertainment purposes. Yes, there is the state broadcaster and e-TV but, lets face it, they do not compare.

So, I have a dilemma: sit and wait for someone to actually answer their phones, or cancel my subscription and go without Smallville, CSI, and Sunday night movies.

Decisions, decisions!

(Ed's Note: I've been having the same problem with SAA's Voyager call centre. If anyone in the SAA IT department is reading this, I would /love/ to know when the airline plans to do something about its shocking call centre, useless Website, and non-existent customer service. /sam)
